Back in the Kitchen: Curating, Cooking & Celebrating with Dr. Coco

After a long pause, I’m finally back. And truth be told, it wasn’t planned—I had to listen first.
I stepped away from Dr. Coco’s Kitchen because of a mix of burnout, the noise of work politics, and the frustration of pouring so much love into content without monetization. Life was lifing, and somewhere in the chaos, I lost my fire to shoot, post, and create. I was tired. I didn’t want to fake it—and I never will.
But now? Now I’ve got more space. In chapter 1 of Feeding the Soul, Tabitha Brown discusses the gifts that God has given us. As I reflected on the things I do naturally well, the kitchen kept surfacing. Inspired by Feeding the Soul, rewatching Martha Stewart + Meghan Duchess of Sussex on repeat, and making room for joy—I’m creating again. And most importantly, God said, “it’s time.”
This time, I’m doing it with intention—for the women like me who love to curate culinary experiences, whether you’re braising short ribs or ordering Thai and styling your table with taper candles. You’re the ones I’m writing to. We get joy from beautiful things, good food, and the magic of sharing it all.
Yes, I’m keeping the name.
Because:
- I earned this Dr.—doctors are experts and I know the kitchen. We go together real bad.
- Coco is my most vibrant, most authentic self—with a dash of cayenne. She listens to 90s R&B, Jazz, Afro-Beats, Gospel and Boosie.
- And this is all about the kitchen—from family recipes to hosting, décor to tools. I’m the kitchen expert, and this space reflects that.
So whether you’re here for modern kitchen inspiration, recipes, chic hosting ideas, cooking videos, or affiliate finds to build your dream kitchen, you’re in the right place.
Welcome (back) to Dr. Coco’s Kitchen—we’re cooking, curating, and celebrating again.
Love,
Dr. Chanel aka Dr. Coco
